Sky customers in the UK are in for a treat as the brand-new HBO Max service has launched, offering a range of popular shows and movies at no extra cost for certain subscribers. Those with a Sky Ultimate TV package can now enjoy hit titles like Game of Thrones, Friends, Dune, Succession, and Young Sheldon without the usual monthly fee of £4.99, resulting in a significant saving of over £50.
Sky has confirmed that customers with Sky Stream, Sky Glass, or Sky Q subscriptions that include Ultimate TV will automatically receive HBO Max Basic with Ads as part of their package. This service, which has been available in the USA, features a vast library of HBO dramas like Succession and The Wire, along with new Max Originals such as The Pitt, and a wide selection of Warner Bros. films.
To access HBO Max, eligible Sky customers can simply launch the HBO Max app from their device’s homepage and follow the on-screen instructions to activate the service for on-demand streaming. For those not on the Ultimate TV plan, switching to it is an option starting at £22 per month, which will increase to £24 from April 1st. This package not only includes over 130 Sky channels but also provides access to Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, and the upcoming Hayu service.
Sophia Ahmad, Sky’s Chief Consumer Officer, highlighted the significance of this offering, stating, “This marks a new era for Sky and NOW, bringing together Sky, Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, and Hayu in a single subscription, offering an unparalleled range of entertainment in one integrated experience.” NOW Entertainment customers will also benefit from HBO Max integration at no additional charge.
For non-Sky subscribers, it is possible to sign up for HBO Max directly on the service’s website, with Standard with Ads plans starting at £5.99.
