Keir Starmer has emphasized that any form of attack on a member of his Cabinet is entirely unacceptable amidst reports of internal leadership discussions targeting Wes Streeting.

In his recent remarks following the emergence of intense briefings within the government’s upper echelons, the Prime Minister commended the Health Secretary’s performance, stating that he is doing an excellent job. Streeting was compelled to refute allegations of orchestrating a power grab against Starmer as speculation regarding the Prime Minister’s future became public.

During the Prime Minister’s Questions (PMQs) session, Starmer acknowledged the Health Secretary’s efforts in reducing NHS waiting lists, although he faced mockery from the Conservative benches when he asserted that the Cabinet was a cohesive unit.

Starmer also highlighted the dedication of his chief-of-staff, Morgan McSweeney, and the rest of his team to serving the country effectively.

Responding to Tory leader Kemi Badenoch’s query about Streeting’s comments on the need for a cultural shift in Downing Street, Starmer affirmed his commitment to rebuilding the nation daily. He unequivocally condemned any attacks on his Cabinet members.

Starmer lauded Streeting for surpassing expectations by delivering five million additional appointments within the first year of a Labour government, exceeding the initial pledge of two million.

Streeting defended himself on Wednesday morning, rejecting the notion of a Labour leadership challenge as counterproductive and unhelpful, denying any plans to remove the Prime Minister.

Comparing the internal discord to a reality TV show, Streeting criticized the negative briefing as detrimental, expressing full support for the Prime Minister.

During an interview with Sky News, Streeting criticized the briefing as unfounded and unhelpful, drawing parallels to a TV show and emphasizing the importance of supporting the Prime Minister.
