Sugababes member Mutya Buena recently shared that postnatal depression played a role in her decision to leave the popular band. Following the birth of her daughter Tahlia-May in 2005, the 40-year-old musician departed from the group and was replaced by singer Amelle Berrabah.
Although Mutya eventually reunited with former bandmates Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy for tours and new music projects, she reflected on her departure, expressing that having some time off after becoming a mother would have influenced her decision to stay.
In an interview with Glamour UK, Keisha discussed the challenges the group faced over the years, highlighting the constant pressure and obstacles they encountered. Despite the difficulties, the trio persevered and eventually reunited, gaining back the rights to use the Sugababes name in 2019.
Looking back on their journey during a conversation with the Mirror, Siobhan praised the band’s legacy, acknowledging the devoted fan base. Keisha emphasized the importance of resuming where they left off, aiming to provide their supporters with a different and fulfilling experience.
