Tesco is set to distribute numerous free Christmas trees for a single day. These “wonky” Christmas trees, typically not suitable for sale due to imperfections like uneven branches or slight tilting, will be gifted by the supermarket on Saturday, December 6, at specific locations. Tesco encourages recipients to consider donating to the food charities Fareshare and Trussell.
The giveaway will take place at various Tesco stores, including Colney Hatch Extra, Borehamwood Extra, Hammersmith, Southport Extra, Goole Superstore, Glossop Superstore, Bristol Brislington Extra, Cardiff Extra, Dundee Riverside Extra, and Glasgow Maryhill Extra. Interested individuals can claim a tree starting at 10 am on a first-come, first-served basis, limited to one tree per household. Comparable Christmas trees are priced at £13.99 in Aldi and £14.99 in Home Bargains.
Ashwin Prasad, Tesco’s UK CEO, expressed, “Embrace the imperfect moments this Christmas. Despite their quirks, these trees are still delightful and, with some care and creative ornament placement, can bring warmth to any home while supporting our charity partners.” A recent Tesco survey revealed that 24% of Brits mark the second weekend of December for tree decorating, with 87% agreeing that perfection is not necessary for a special Christmas, as 74% cherish the imperfect moments that define the festive season.
A study by Censuswide, conducted between August 22 and 28, and December 1 and 2, highlighted these findings. In other news, Tesco announced a promotion offering Clubcard members double points for every £1 spent on gift cards throughout December. This promotion applies to all third-party gift cards purchased at Tesco stores, automatically crediting double points to Clubcard accounts.
With approximately 24 million Clubcard members, Tesco rewards loyalty with points earned on groceries, fuel purchases, Tesco Mobile services, and Tesco credit card transactions. A Clubcard voucher, redeemable at Tesco, is issued for a minimum of 150 points, equivalent to £1.50.
