The Original Factory Shop has recently entered administration, appointing administrators from Interpath Advisory. This move puts 137 stores and 1,180 jobs in jeopardy. While the physical stores are operating normally as the administrators explore options for the business, the online operations have been ceased.
Challenges faced by The Original Factory Shop include high cost inflation, increased labor expenses, and reduced sales due to decreased consumer spending. Compounding these issues are problems related to its third-party warehouse and logistics provider. Established in 1969, The Original Factory Shop was acquired by Modella Capital last year.
Rick Harrison, the managing director at Interpath and joint administrator, expressed regret over the situation, stating that despite being a longstanding presence on local high streets, the company had to enter administration due to trading difficulties. The administrators plan to collaborate with the dedicated employees to keep the stores operational while evaluating potential strategies for the business.
