Heavy traffic congestion was observed on the M60 today following a road crash, impacting both the M62 westbound and M61 southbound routes. The incident occurred on the clockwise carriageway of the M60 between junctions 16 and 17 near Prestwich, with reports of animals on the road.
According to the Inrix traffic monitoring service, there was slow traffic on the M60 clockwise from J16 A666 Manchester Road to J17 A56 Bury New Road, leading to congestion up to Swinton Interchange. The animals on the road have since been relocated.
Ongoing traffic delays persist on the M60, with queueing traffic reported in both directions between J15 M61 J1 (Swinton Interchange) and J17 (Prestwich / Whitefield). National Highways also confirmed an incident involving animals on the road between J15 and J17 on the M60 clockwise, with normal traffic conditions expected to resume by 2 pm.
Google Maps data illustrates the extent of queues on the M60, M61, and M62 following the morning collision, although traffic on the M62 westbound and M61 southbound routes seems to be improving.
After a crash on the M60 clockwise between junctions 16 at Pendlebury and 17 at Prestwich and Whitefield earlier today, queues have formed with traffic trailing back to junction 13 at Worsley clockwise, as indicated by Google traffic data.
