A 20-year-old student tragically lost her life after being hit by a hit-and-run driver while jogging near Lawrence Regional Airport in Kansas City. The victim, Elsa McGrain, a pre-med student at the University of Kansas, was found nearly 10 hours after the incident. She was from Omaha, Nebraska, and was set to graduate in 2026.
Authorities discovered Elsa’s body early on Friday morning, hours after the accident occurred. Investigators released images of a white pickup truck that is of interest in connection to the case. While no charges have been filed yet, a 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter.
Elsa was a dedicated member of Chi Omega, serving as the house manager on the sorority’s executive board. The sorority expressed their deep sorrow over Elsa’s passing on Instagram, describing her as a kind, genuine, and caring individual who touched the lives of many. Elsa’s faith and compassionate nature left a lasting impact on those who knew her, and her memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to have her in their lives.
