A trainer owning just two horses achieved a significant victory alongside his jockey brother as Oscars Brother triumphed in the Boodles Florida Pearl Novice Chase at Punchestown. The competition featured entries from renowned stables like Gordon Elliott and Henry de Bromhead, as well as Rocky’s Diamond, who finished fourth in the 2025 Stayers’ Hurdle.

Connor King, the handler, outshone competitors with Oscars Brother, expertly guided by his brother and jockey, Daniel, around the challenging County Kildare track. Maintaining a leading position throughout, Oscars Brother, the 7-4 favorite, showcased impeccable jumping skills to secure a three-length victory over De Bromhead’s Koktail Divin.

Ahead of the three-mile race on soft to heavy ground at Galway, Oscars Brother had prepared diligently. The duo now aspires to develop a Grade One contender at their modest training facility, which houses only one other racehorse.

Expressing his elation, Daniel described the win as “class” and praised their horse’s progress and determination. Looking ahead, the brothers contemplate entering Oscars Brother in the prestigious Grade One Faugheen Novices’ Chase at Limerick during the festive Christmas period.

Reflecting on their horse’s transition from hurdles to chasing, Connor highlighted their strategic planning and ambition for Oscars Brother’s future successes. Anticipating a competitive field, Connor acknowledged the potential of the upcoming race as a significant target for their talented steed.
