President Donald Trump has informed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that he must approve the proposed peace plan or continue to engage in conflict with Russia, in a stern reaction to Ukraine’s apprehensions.

During a press briefing, Trump was asked about Zelensky’s remarks regarding the peace agreement designed to halt the ongoing war.

Zelensky expressed that the peace proposal presented a challenging decision for Ukraine, stating that the country faced a dilemma between compromising its dignity or risking the loss of a crucial ally.

In response, Trump asserted that Zelensky must accept the plan, suggesting that if he disagrees, Ukraine should persist in fighting. Trump emphasized the necessity for Zelensky to come to terms with the situation, referencing a previous conversation in the Oval Office where he had indicated that Ukraine lacked leverage.

Trump has set the following Thursday as a reasonable deadline for Zelensky to endorse the 28-point peace accord. However, Zelensky has voiced concerns that accepting the plan would result in Ukraine forfeiting its freedom, dignity, and justice.

The leaked details of the proposal include provisions such as Ukraine surrendering portions of the eastern Donestsk region, downsizing its military forces, and committing to refrain from joining NATO.

Despite the pressure, Zelensky affirmed his intention to present counterarguments, persuade, and suggest alternatives in response to the proposed terms.

The plan reportedly involves discussions between the United States and Russia, appearing to be favorable to Russian interests. It outlines reductions in Ukraine’s army size from approximately 880,000 troops to 600,000 and prohibits Ukraine from NATO membership.

Additionally, the plan stipulates the affirmation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and mandates the organization of elections within the country within 100 days. It also includes provisions for dialogue between Russia and NATO to address security concerns, alongside an expectation that Russia refrains from invading neighboring nations.
