Two individuals holding Premium Bonds, one from Liverpool and the other from Norfolk, have each won £1 million. The National Savings & Investments (NS&I) announced that the winning number for the first £1 million prize this month is 496VT504601, owned by a person in Liverpool who purchased the bond in April 2022. This marks the fifth jackpot winner from Liverpool. The second £1 million prize bond number, 282NN327573, belongs to a person in Norfolk who bought the winning bond in September 2016. They are the third individual from Norfolk to win the £1 million jackpot.

NS&I Retail Director, Andrew Westhead, expressed joy for the winners in Liverpool and Norfolk, stating that these two lucky individuals are celebrating a significant win this March. In addition to the jackpot winners, this month’s draw by ERNIE awarded over £410 million in tax-free prizes to more than six million recipients. To check if you are a winner, you can use the NS&I prize checker app starting March 3.

The total amount paid out to Premium Bonds winners this month is £410,607,175, with 6,221,321 recipients receiving tax-free prizes. Since the inaugural draw in June 1957, a total of 821 million prizes worth over £40.3 billion have been awarded.

Aside from the £1 million winners, 78 bond holders received £100,000 each, while 156 individuals won £50,000, 313 won £25,000, and 782 won £10,000 each. Additionally, nearly 2.7 million bond holders received £25 each.

Premium Bonds were first introduced in November 1956, with the first draw conducted by ERNIE in June 1957. Individuals can hold up to £50,000 in Premium Bonds, offering both security backed by the UK Treasury and the chance to win tax-free prizes. New Premium Bonds must be held for a full calendar month before being eligible for the prize draw.

The winning bond numbers for the £1 million jackpot prize winners are revealed on the first working day of each month after direct contact by Agent Million. Bond holders can check their prizes ranging from £25 to £100,000 on the Premium Bonds prize checker app, NS&I website, or by asking Alexa on the day after the first working day of the month. For this month, it will be on March 3.

To check prizes on the NS&I website, bond holders need their Premium Bonds holder’s number. Those using the Premium Bonds app can use either their holder’s number or their NS&I number.
