Samsung TV owners in the UK are in for a significant upgrade as UKTV announces the arrival of its popular free-to-air channels on Samsung screens. This update will allow viewers in the UK to access a variety of bonus content without the need for extra devices.

The channels will be streamed over the internet, eliminating the requirement for a traditional aerial connection. Samsung will also enhance the viewing experience by introducing a dedicated section on the home screen showcasing content from the U streaming service, making it easier for users to discover shows like classic comedies, dramas, and factual programs.

In the upcoming months, Samsung users will have direct access to channels such as U&DRAMA, U&Dave, U&YESTERDAY, U&W, and U&eden through a deep link from Samsung’s Universal Guide to the U app. This integration is expected to reach millions of Samsung TVs, with the channels prominently featured in the platform’s ‘Live’ tab and Universal Guide, ensuring easy access to UKTV’s live and on-demand content for viewers relying on internet-based TV.

Jonathan Newman, General Manager of Commercial at UKTV and BBC Studios UK and Ireland, expressed enthusiasm for the strengthened partnership with Samsung, emphasizing the increased accessibility of the U app to Samsung customers and the continued visibility of UKTV’s diverse content offerings.

Dan Harvie, Vice President of Home Entertainment and Appliances at Samsung UK and Ireland, highlighted the significance of UKTV in enriching the entertainment options available on Samsung TVs. He emphasized Samsung’s commitment to enhancing the entertainment experience by providing access to a wide array of broadcast content through partnerships like the one with UKTV.

Although an official launch date has not been disclosed, the new features are anticipated to roll out on Samsung TVs in the near future, enhancing the viewing experience for Samsung users across the UK.
