WhatsApp has introduced significant upgrades in its latest update that users should not overlook. The chat app, owned by Meta, has unveiled a free update featuring four new functionalities, including improved storage management and enhanced chat history transfer capabilities between iOS and Android devices. This enhancement aims to simplify the process of switching devices for users.
According to WhatsApp, these changes are currently being rolled out, and users can expect to receive the update on their devices in the upcoming weeks.
“Chats gradually become a repository of precious moments: conversations with family, joyful interactions with friends, and the continuous sharing of photos and videos,” as explained by WhatsApp.
“To optimize your experience, we are introducing new features to enhance the usability of WhatsApp, whether you are organizing your chats, balancing work and personal life, or maximizing each conversation,” the company stated.
So, what can users expect from these new features? Here are the four additions that will soon be available:
1. Simplified storage management: WhatsApp often consumes a substantial amount of data. Messages, photos, and videos shared via chats can quickly fill up device storage. Users can now easily view and delete large files directly from any chat, allowing them to free up space without deleting the entire conversation. By selecting “Manage Storage” after tapping the chat name, users can choose to clear only media files while retaining message history.
2. Effortless cross-platform chat transfers: The new WhatsApp chat transfer tool now enables seamless transfer of messages, photos, and videos from iOS to Android, in addition to transfers within the same platform. Switching phones, especially from iPhone to Android, can now be done with just a few taps.
3. Dual account support on iOS: iOS users can now simultaneously access two WhatsApp accounts on the same device, similar to Android users. This feature eliminates the need for separate devices to manage work and personal accounts. Profile photos will be displayed in the bottom tab to avoid confusion about the active account.
4. Mood-matching stickers: WhatsApp now offers sticker suggestions based on the emojis users type, allowing them to easily swap emojis for stickers that align with their mood with a single tap.
These features are currently being rolled out and will soon be accessible to all users.
“We believe these enhancements will streamline your WhatsApp experience,” added the messaging platform.
