Bruce Springsteen, also known as The Boss, extended a helping hand to director Scott Cooper and his family following the destruction of their home in the Los Angeles wildfires. Cooper, who is working on the new biopic “Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere,” shared that Springsteen graciously accommodated his family in his own home after they lost everything in the fire. Cooper’s daughter Stella, who lost her guitar in the blaze, received a replacement guitar from Springsteen himself.
In an interview with PEOPLE magazine, Cooper expressed his gratitude for Springsteen’s support, highlighting the profound impact it had on his family during a challenging time. The director emphasized the significance of this gesture, noting how it has influenced the making of the biopic and the emotional journey associated with it.
The unfortunate event occurred while Cooper was on set with actor Jeremy Allen White, who portrays Springsteen in the biopic. Cooper received the devastating news of his house being consumed by the fire on the same day they were filming a scene featuring White singing ‘Born To Run’ and a poignant interaction between the fictional rock star and his on-screen father.
Reflecting on the difficult circumstances, Cooper shared the emotional toll it took on him, describing it as one of the toughest days he has experienced while filming a movie. To compound their distress, the family had to make the heartbreaking decision to euthanize their cherished family dog just a week later.
Despite facing immense challenges, Cooper praised his daughters Ava and Stella for their resilience in the face of adversity. He commended their strength and positivity in coping with the loss and upheaval they endured, describing the past year as both the worst and the best of his life.
White, who had the daunting task of embodying Springsteen on screen, acknowledged the pressure of performing alongside the music icon himself. He shared his initial apprehension about portraying a musician without prior experience but expressed his dedication to the role, highlighting the learning process and the time invested in preparing for the part.
The heartwarming support from Springsteen and the resilience of Cooper’s family amidst tragedy have been pivotal in shaping the narrative of the biopic and the personal journey of those involved in its creation.
