The latest weather forecasts reveal that thunderstorms are expected to impact various parts of the UK in the upcoming days.

Areas stretching as far as Aberdeenshire are bracing for stormy weather on Friday night, with the most severe conditions anticipated in the Southwest of England. Thunderstorms, indicated by red dots on the maps, are projected to affect a large portion of the Southwest of England and the Home Counties by 9pm on Friday.

According to data from Metdesk, parts of Dorset could experience up to 8mm of rainfall within a few hours on Friday night, with more rain expected throughout Saturday. While the possibility of flooding looms over the weekend, no official alerts have been issued yet for the Southwest of England.

The Met Office’s website forecasts continued unsettled weather for the weekend, with occasional brighter intervals on Friday and Saturday interspersed with heavy showers. Showers are predicted to become less frequent by Sunday, accompanied by milder temperatures and persistent winds.

The upcoming days are expected to remain turbulent as Hurricane Melissa, currently advancing over Jamaica, is poised to impact the UK’s weather patterns, according to meteorologists. A fresh wave of low pressure is anticipated to reach the UK by Tuesday, with northern England likely to bear the brunt compared to the southern regions.

The initial wave of storms is anticipated to hit around 6pm, intensifying around 9pm. Cornwall, Devon, and Dorset are at higher risk of severe weather, with the storm front advancing eastward. By approximately 11pm, areas like Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire could experience weaker storm activity compared to earlier in the evening.

Tuesday witnessed heavy rainfall, with over 33mm recorded in parts of Stirling and Perth and Kinross in Scotland. Wet conditions also prevailed in the Northwest of England, especially in Cumbria, raising concerns about potential flooding in the upcoming days. Notably, a flood alert has been issued for the tidal rivers Bure, Ant, and Thurne in Norfolk.

Looking ahead to the start of November, the Met Office anticipates continued changeable and unsettled weather throughout early November, with low pressure systems dominating the UK. This scenario is likely to bring further bouts of heavy rain, especially in western regions, alongside occasional strong winds and a possibility of gales.
