A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday morning when a woman named Amy Gray and her dog, Reggie, were fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing the A8 Greenock Road in Port Glasgow, Scotland. The 42-year-old woman and her pet were hit by a Land Rover Sport on the eastbound carriageway. Despite emergency services’ prompt arrival at around 7.05 am, both Ms. Gray and her dog succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

The driver of the Land Rover remained unharmed, and the Greenock Road was shut down for approximately five hours to facilitate investigative procedures. Authorities have informed Ms. Gray’s family, and a detailed report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal for further action.

Sergeant Patrick McWilliams of Police Scotland Road Policing expressed his condolences, stating, “We have specialist officers supporting Mrs. Gray’s family during this challenging period.” He also urged any witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward and assist the police in their inquiries.
