The sibling of Cheryl Grimmer, the British toddler who went missing under mysterious circumstances, has revealed a heart-wrenching account of the day his younger sister disappeared.

The Grimmer family, consisting of parents Carole and Vince, Cheryl, and her three brothers Ricki, Stephen, and Paul, had relocated from Bristol to Australia in 1968 in search of a fresh start. However, less than two years later, three-year-old Cheryl vanished.

On a summer day in January 1970, Cheryl, her mother, and brothers were enjoying a beach outing while their father was away on military duty. When it was time to leave, Carole went to gather their things while the children went to the shower block. Ricki, Cheryl’s older brother, informed his mother that his sister was not coming out of the shower stall.

Moments later, upon Carole’s arrival, Cheryl was nowhere to be found, sparking a frantic search. The family’s anguish deepened as authorities scoured the area but could not locate Cheryl, leaving her loved ones haunted by her disappearance.

Ricki has carried the burden of that day, regretting his decision to leave the shower block to fetch his mother. He vividly remembers the events and the impact it had on his family, especially his parents who never recovered from the loss of Cheryl.

Despite the passage of 55 years, Ricki remains committed to uncovering the truth behind Cheryl’s disappearance. Recently, the family confronted a local teenager known as Mercury, who had confessed to Cheryl’s murder in the 1970s but was not prosecuted due to insufficient evidence.

The case resurfaced in 2016, leading to Mercury’s arrest, but the subsequent trial was dismissed, prolonging the family’s quest for justice. Australian lawmaker Jeremy Buckingham has now demanded a fresh inquiry into Cheryl’s case, highlighting the family’s enduring pain and the need for closure.

As the family continues to seek answers, the unresolved case of Cheryl Grimmer’s abduction and murder remains a tragic chapter in their lives, with Mercury living freely under legal protection, shielding his true identity from the community.
