Andrew reportedly made efforts to resist the removal of all his royal titles and expulsion from his residence. Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles initiated the process to strip Andrew of his royal designations, including ‘prince,’ and evict him from the Royal Lodge estate, where he lived with his former spouse, Sarah Ferguson. Earlier this month, Andrew renounced his other titles, such as the Duke of York, amid growing scrutiny over his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, allegations that Andrew vehemently refutes.

Sources indicated that Andrew did not oppose the King’s decision and had the support of Prince William in making personal decisions. According to Emily Maitlis from The News Agents, insiders close to the royal family disclosed that Andrew initially resisted losing his titles and residence. Maitlis revealed that discussions regarding this significant move commenced on Tuesday, with input from individuals close to the monarchy, leading to the decision being finalized on Wednesday.

Contrary to public perception, Prince William was not the driving force behind the decision, as he was primarily concerned about his uncle’s mental well-being. Andrew is expected to relocate from Royal Lodge to the private Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, following criticism over the nominal rent he paid at the Windsor property for two decades.

As Prince Andrew faces the loss of his titles, the Mirror has introduced a Royal WhatsApp community for the latest updates on the British royal family. Members can receive exclusive news and updates directly on their phones by joining the community via a provided link. Special offers and promotions will be extended to community members, with an option to exit the group at any time. Andrew’s move to Sandringham may be delayed until after Christmas due to the complex process of relinquishing his current residence, potentially avoiding any festive encounters with him during the traditional royal family Christmas gathering at Sandringham.
