Former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Gemma Atkinson firmly declined when her dance partner, Gorka Marquez, inquired about a particular aspect of their time on the show. Gemma, known for her roles in Hollyoaks and Emmerdale, crossed paths with the professional dancer during her appearance on Strictly in 2017. Although they did not team up on the BBC program, Gemma made it to the final with Aljaz Skorjanec while Gorka was a runner-up with singer Alexandra Burke.
During a podcast session called Lost in Translation, a listener posed a question to Gemma, 40, regarding whether she wished they had been paired together from the beginning. Gemma promptly responded with a resounding “No.” She expressed that Gorka guiding her during their participation in the Christmas special was sufficient. Gemma explained that she didn’t appreciate being instructed by Gorka, stating, “You were telling me what to do because that was your job.”
Notably, Gemma and Gorka, who have two children together, have different perspectives on their respective roles in the household. Gorka, who has been a Strictly runner-up on three occasions, commended Gemma for managing the household efficiently while he is away for work commitments. Gemma, however, voiced her discontent with Gorka’s extended absences, reminding him that his work is not akin to saving lives.
Strictly Come Dancing fans can tune in to the results show tonight on BBC One from 7.15pm to 8pm.
