Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, announced on Friday a global recall of over 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a seat belt issue. The recall affects Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured between 2019 and 2026 that may have a second-row center or second-row driver side seat belt buckle anchor that was not correctly attached to the vehicle’s body structure.
This issue could compromise the performance of the second-row seat belt system, increasing the risk of injury to occupants. While Stellantis has reported one injury potentially linked to the recall, there have been no fatalities associated with it.
The recall encompasses 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and approximately 75,000 in other regions outside of North America. Stellantis will inform affected vehicle owners to contact dealerships to arrange for an inspection. Dealers will examine the second-row center and second-row driver seat belt buckle anchor and, if necessary, securely attach it to the vehicle’s body structure.
