The Canadian beach volleyball pair of Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson clinched the bronze medal at the Montreal Elite16 tournament held on home turf. The 2024 Olympic silver medalists staged a remarkable comeback against Germany’s Svenja Müller and Cinja Tillmann, winning with scores of 20-22, 21-12, and 18-16 to secure a podium finish.

Wilkerson was instrumental in the victory, tallying 32 attack points, 5 block points, and a serve point, while Humana-Paredes contributed 9 attack points. The match had a brief interruption due to adverse weather conditions before resuming.

Earlier in the day, Humana-Paredes and Wilkerson suffered a defeat in the semifinals against Brazil’s Thamela Galil and Victoria Tosta, putting an end to their quest for a three-peat. However, they bounced back to claim the bronze medal match against the same German duo they faced in the earlier round.

Having previously won the Montreal titles in 2023 and 2025, along with securing an Olympic silver medal during the Paris Games, the Canadian duo showcased their prowess once again.

In the men’s category, Canada’s Sam Schachter and Jonathan Pickett fought back to secure a bronze medal in a thrilling match against Norway’s Hendrik Mol and Mathias Berntsen. After dropping the first set, they rallied to win the next two sets, 28-26 and 15-12, earning their first podium finish together in front of the home crowd.

Schachter and Pickett had earlier caused an upset by defeating the top-ranked pair to reach the semifinals but fell short against Brazil’s Renato Andrew Lima de Carvalho and André Loyola Stein. Despite the semifinal loss, their bronze medal victory was a significant achievement in the competition.
