Sir Geoffrey Boycott has urged for the dismissal of Brendon McCullum following England’s embarrassing loss in the Ashes series. The series outcome was determined after just 11 days of play, with Australia emerging victorious in the third Test by 82 runs.

This Ashes series has been one of the shortest in history, with only the 1921 edition being decided in fewer days when Australia took a commanding 3-0 lead. Despite England still having matches in Melbourne and Sydney, the attention has swiftly turned to the post-2025-26 series future.

McCullum, who took over as coach in May 2022, helped England transform from a struggling team to a successful one, winning 10 out of their next 11 matches under Ben Stokes’ leadership. However, criticism of their aggressive playing style, known as ‘Bazball,’ has escalated following defeats to India and a drawn series at home.

Boycott, a vocal critic of Bazball, believes it is time for a change, pointing out that the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) should act. He emphasized the need for a shift in approach to reach higher levels of performance.

Expressing disappointment in the team’s performance, McCullum acknowledged making mistakes as head coach, especially in the lead-up to the crucial Ashes series. He admitted to errors in preparation and emphasized the need for reflection and improvement.

Additionally, Sky has announced a reduction in the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports package ahead of the upcoming season, offering significant savings and an expanded lineup of live matches, including over 1,400 games across various leagues. Sky is set to broadcast at least 215 live Premier League matches next season, a substantial increase from previous seasons.
