A fatal shooting occurred outside a gym in Portland, Oregon, resulting in one fatality and another individual sustaining injuries.
Gunshots were fired outside the 24-hour gym located in the Hollywood District of Portland around 6:47 am local time. The perpetrator fled the scene, prompting a manhunt by law enforcement.
Upon arrival, multiple ambulances and fire crews responded to the incident. Portland Fire and Rescue confirmed their presence and stated that they were actively triaging and treating the injured before transporting them to the hospital.
Initial reports suggested multiple casualties, but local authorities later clarified that only two individuals were harmed. Police have provided updates on the condition of the injured parties following the shooting.
Tragically, one victim succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while the other was taken to the hospital with injuries described as “non-life-threatening” by the police.
In an official statement, the Portland Police confirmed the fatality and the non-life-threatening injuries of the two individuals involved. A police spokesperson emphasized that the incident was not categorized as a mass shooting or active shooter situation.
This incident follows a recent shooting in the Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood of Portland, where a 14-year-old was shot on Sunday, resulting in injuries to a 17-year-old and a 42-year-old.
