A female British tourist has reported being sexually assaulted by a hotel employee during her stay in Greece. The incident occurred on the island of Kos, where the 45-year-old woman alleged that a 42-year-old male, reportedly a Nigerian citizen, attacked her in her hotel room around 7pm on a Monday. The woman, who admitted to consuming alcohol, claimed that the employee took advantage of her intoxicated state.
Authorities on the popular resort island launched a search for the suspect, leading to his arrest and subsequent detention. The individual is awaiting a court appearance before the Kos District Court prosecutor at a later date.
This incident follows a series of sexual assault allegations made by tourists visiting Greece earlier this year. In one instance, a tourist on Rhodes accused her masseuse of inappropriate behavior during a massage session at her hotel in Kremasti, leaving her feeling uncomfortable. The victim proceeded to file a lawsuit regarding the incident.
In another case in July, a 16-year-old British girl claimed she was raped at sea in front of a crowded beach on the island of Rhodes. The teenager, vacationing with her family, reported the incident to the authorities, leading to the arrest of a 15-year-old Belgian boy who claimed the interaction was consensual.
The suspect has been presented before the island’s Public Prosecutor, who has referred the case to an investigating officer for further legal action.
