A heartfelt tribute was honored to Ricky Hatton at Aintree as ‘Hitman’, a horse named after the renowned Boxing icon, emerged victorious at the prestigious racecourse. It was previously disclosed at a public inquest that Hatton was discovered deceased at his residence in Manchester in mid-September.

Over the past six weeks, numerous tributes have been pouring in, with the latest tribute taking place on Sunday at Aintree Racecourse, where ‘Hitman’ triumphed in the 14:55 William Hill Old Roan Limited Handicap Chase. The race carried a prize fund of £45,560, which will be entirely donated to the Ricky Hatton Foundation.

Ged Mason, co-owner of the nine-year-old gelding, and Hatton’s manager Paul Speak, expressed their emotional sentiments following the race. Speak, holding back tears, remarked, “I’m at a loss for words. I prayed, and my prayer was answered.” Mason also shared his thoughts, stating, “Hitman has often been the runner-up, but today he shone for Ricky and his foundation. What a wonderful gesture.”

Following the race, Speak commended Mason, referring to him as an extraordinary and compassionate individual. Mason expressed his delight in contributing to Ricky’s memory and legacy through the foundation, emphasizing the importance of seeking support and not battling problems alone.

Moreover, Mason extended his gratitude to the stable team, jockey Freddie Gingell, and Ricky himself for their contributions. The victory marked a significant moment in Hitman’s career, with all efforts focused on securing the win.

The touching tribute to Ricky Hatton continued to resonate among the racing community, highlighting the impact of his legacy and the importance of supporting one another during challenging times.
