When my son Simon was 18 months old, I unknowingly gave him a cashew that triggered a severe allergic reaction. Rushing him to the Winnipeg HSC Children’s Emergency Department, we faced the terrifying reality of an anaphylactic episode as his face swelled rapidly.

The journey towards relinquishing control began as Simon’s resilience inspired me to address my own mental well-being. Recognizing the detrimental impact of fear-driven behavior, I embarked on a path of self-improvement, aiming to break free from the shackles of anxiety and micromanagement.

Embracing Change

As Simon blossomed into a spirited youngster, his courage became a beacon of hope, nudging me towards personal growth. Prioritizing mental wellness, I acknowledged the need to shift from a place of fear to one of trust and empowerment.
