The Montreal Roses took swift action following their elimination from the W Canadian Championship by parting ways with their inaugural head coach, Robert Rositoiu. Marinette Pichon, the club’s sporting director, announced the decision on Thursday morning, expressing gratitude to Rositoiu for his foundational role in establishing the professional women’s soccer club.
Acknowledging the difficulty of the decision, Pichon emphasized the need for a fresh approach to propel the club forward for the remainder of the season and its ongoing development. Currently positioned second in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points, the Roses have 10 matches remaining in their regular season.
Robert Rositoiu took on the role of head coach in September 2024 in preparation for the Roses’ debut season in the NSL in 2025. Meanwhile, Maryse Bard-Martel, the team’s former assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will step in as interim head coach while the club searches for a permanent replacement for Rositoiu. Bard-Martel will lead the team in their upcoming match against AFC Toronto.
