The King has initiated the formal process to remove Andrew’s titles, including Duke of York, as confirmed by Buckingham Palace. Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor instead of a prince and will transition from Royal Lodge to private accommodation. The titles affected include Prince, Duke of York, Earl of Inverness, Baron Killyleagh, and the style “His Royal Highness.”

The removal extends to Prince Andrew’s Order of the Garter and Knight Grand Cross of the Victorian Order. Following ongoing controversies surrounding his association with Jeffrey Epstein, Andrew has agreed to vacate Royal Lodge. Despite denying the allegations, Buckingham Palace has cited “serious lapses of judgment.”

While the King initiated the title removal process, Andrew did not contest it. The Prince of Wales and the wider Royal Family are reportedly supportive of this decision. Recent events, including public protests and renewed scrutiny on Andrew’s connections to Epstein, have heightened pressure on the monarchy to address the issue.

Allegations from Virginia Giuffre, accusing Andrew of engaging in sexual activities with her at various locations, have further fueled the controversy. Despite vehemently denying these claims, Andrew has been asked to surrender the lease at Royal Lodge, with plans to relocate to Sandringham promptly. The King will ensure suitable private arrangements for Andrew’s new residence, including the departure of his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, from Royal Lodge.
