Rapper and Netflix personality Ghetts has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred in London on Saturday, October 18, as confirmed by the Metropolitan Police.
The artist, known professionally as Justin Clarke-Samuel, is accused of fleeing the scene after allegedly striking a man with his vehicle on Redbridge Lane East, Ilford. Regrettably, the 20-year-old victim succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
Appearing before the Stratford Magistrates’ Court on Monday, Clarke-Samuel, aged 41, has been detained in custody. His next court appearance is scheduled at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Monday, October 27. Authorities are urging any witnesses to the accident to come forward.
Clarke-Samuel, who has a substantial following on Spotify, has collaborated with prominent artists such as Skepta, Stormzy, and Ed Sheeran. He graced the stage at Glastonbury in 2024.
In 2008, he received a BET Award nomination for Best International Act: UK, alongside Chipmunk, Giggs, and Skepta. His music has been featured on major platforms like BBC Radio 1.
Having clinched the Best Male Act at the 2021 Mobo Awards, Clarke-Samuel was subsequently honored with the Mobo Pioneer Award in 2024 for his significant contributions to British black culture.
Beyond his musical achievements, the multi-talented artist is recognized for his role as the menacing character Crazy in Netflix’s Supacell, portraying a recently released ex-convict entangled in a world of criminality.
Additionally, he starred in the 2018 crime thriller The Intent2, a film centered around a man torn between loyalty to his crew and ambitions of independence in the face of a ruthless crime syndicate.
