Amid promises of spine-chilling scare mazes, a highly anticipated Halloween event in the country has come to an abrupt halt, leaving staff members facing financial uncertainties.

Halloween Haunt Fest, hosted at the Hertfordshire County Showground, was expected to thrill attendees from October 17 to November 1. However, the event, known for its eerie scare actors and discounted ticket prices, was unexpectedly canceled earlier this week.

One actress, Phoebe Shergold-Willis, shared her disappointment after not receiving payment for her portrayal of a half-dead character named Ethel. She disclosed being owed approximately £1,600 along with around 100 other actors who were promised daily rates of £85 but had not been compensated.

In a statement released by In the Scenes Ltd CEO Nick Doherty, it was revealed that the company had ceased trading and entered voluntary insolvency, leading to the discontinuation of Halloween Haunt Fest. Efforts to address financial challenges had proven unsuccessful, resulting in the event’s premature closure.

Reacting to the announcement, individuals who had purchased tickets expressed their dismay over the situation, with some taking action to retrieve their funds. Service providers, like Sentry and K9, also voiced concerns about financial implications stemming from the event’s sudden termination.

The Hertfordshire Agricultural Society distanced itself from the ordeal, highlighting that they were owed a substantial sum for the showground rental. The society empathized with affected parties, including actors, employees, and contractors, who were left unpaid.

Despite ongoing developments, Halloween Haunt Fest has not issued a public response regarding the unfolding circumstances.
