Vodafone Introduces Scam Call Protection Service to Safeguard Customers
The issue of receiving unwanted phone calls, especially scam attempts, is on the rise, with reports indicating that the average UK consumer faces around eight of these fraudulent calls every month. These calls often aim to extract personal information and credit card details, posing a risk of financial theft.
To address this growing concern and enhance customer safety, Vodafone has unveiled a new feature known as Scam Call Protection. Utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) technology, this service is designed to detect and flag potentially fraudulent, spam, scam, or nuisance calls.
Operating discreetly in the background, Scam Call Protection analyzes all incoming calls to users’ phones. If any suspicious activity is detected, customers will receive a straightforward on-screen notification alerting them to a potential scam call.
Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at VodafoneThree, highlighted the significance of this innovation, stating, “Scam calls are increasingly sophisticated, making it challenging to identify them and leaving individuals vulnerable.” He emphasized that the introduction of Scam Call Protection on Vodafone Secure Net Mobile offers an additional layer of security by continuously monitoring calls and flagging known or suspected scam attempts.
This new feature is integrated into Vodafone’s Secure Net Mobile platform, which already includes advanced parental controls, round-the-clock ID monitoring to combat identity theft, and real-time virus and malware protection. Interested customers can trial the Scam Call Protection service for three months at no cost, with a subsequent monthly charge of £2.
By rolling out this service, Vodafone reaffirms its commitment to providing comprehensive digital security solutions that empower users to feel safer, informed, and in control of their online experiences.
