A man named Andrew Stockman, aged 54, has been sentenced to jail for mistreating his wife during a vacation in Benidorm. The incident occurred during a Christmas trip last year, intended as a relaxing break for the long-term couple. However, the situation escalated, leading to the wife being forcibly ejected from their holiday accommodation.

The court revealed that Sandra Stockman, who had endured a series of abusive incidents, reached her breaking point during this holiday. The prosecutor stated that the couple’s longstanding marriage issues culminated in the events that transpired in Spain during the Christmas season of 2024.

Mrs. Stockman, while dealing with the loss of a friend during their trip, faced further distress as her husband displayed appalling behavior. He prevented her from returning home for the funeral, leaving her stranded in Benidorm without her passport. It was only after a few days that Stockman inquired about her whereabouts, eventually acknowledging the end of their relationship.

The court proceedings highlighted a pattern of abuse that occurred monthly, primarily fueled by Stockman’s alcohol consumption. Despite owning and operating a B&B together in recent years, the mental and verbal abuse persisted even as physical violence seemed to diminish.

In a statement detailing the impact of the abuse, Ms. Stockman expressed years of suffering and manipulation at the hands of her husband. She emphasized feeling deprived of autonomy and normalcy, realizing that the abusive behavior was a means of control rather than love.

Stockman, from Llay, North Wales, admitted to engaging in coercive and controlling behavior. He was ultimately sentenced to three years and five months in prison by Judge Timothy Petts, who condemned the frequent physical, verbal, and emotional abuse inflicted on Mrs. Stockman. The judge cited the gravity of the situation, noting Stockman’s history of threatening harm towards his wife.
