Sky has introduced new smart home plans in the UK that feature internet-connected cameras with cloud recordings starting at just £5 per month. This competitive offer is positioned as a cost-saving alternative to purchasing a Ring system through Amazon.

The two available plans cater to different needs. The first plan includes a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month, along with a £15 upfront fee. This package offers full HD video recording, instant alerts, customized activity zones, two-way talk, and 30 days of cloud video storage.

For enhanced security, there is the option of the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ priced at £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee. This bundle includes an indoor camera and additional app features like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.

Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized the goal of making high-quality smart technology more accessible and user-friendly. The new plans mark a shift for Sky, making their home security devices available as standalone services for the first time.

Comparatively, Amazon currently offers the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, discounted by £20. Customers seeking cloud recording would need to subscribe to Ring Protect, starting at £4.99 per month.
