The current administration is dedicated to addressing the affordability crisis affecting our nation. Families struggling with expenses are a top priority, leading to the recent extension of the Warm Home Discount to all individuals on means-tested benefits. This initiative provides a £150 energy bill rebate to approximately 6 million families, benefitting one in five households nationwide.

To ensure continued support, eligible families will receive the discount each winter throughout the decade. Additionally, in Scotland, the process will be streamlined so that thousands of families automatically receive this assistance starting next winter.

In another effort to alleviate financial burdens, steps were taken during the Budget to reduce household costs by an average of £150 from April onwards. Complementing these measures, the Warm Homes Plan was recently launched, marking the largest public investment in home upgrades in British history. Through technologies like solar panels, this initiative aims to lower bills for millions of households and assist up to a million families in escaping fuel poverty.

Recognizing the impact of Britain’s energy supply dependence on fossil fuel markets controlled by petrostates and dictators, the government is increasing investment in domestic clean energy production from renewables and nuclear sources.

All decisions are guided by the goal of combating the affordability crisis, with a focus on immediate bill reductions while working towards sustainable long-term solutions.
