Are you tired of waking up to moisture running down your bedroom windows every morning? You’re not alone, and the reason for this is becoming more frequent. Condensation can form on windows at any time of the year, but it is typically more common during colder months. While water droplets may seem harmless, if they persistently affect the same areas, they can lead to significant issues.

Neglecting the problem can result in the formation of black mold, which not only looks unpleasant but can also pose health risks such as asthma, eczema, and bronchitis. To address this, it is crucial to identify and resolve the root cause of the condensation issue.

Condensation, created when warm, humid air meets a cold surface, often appears on windows, especially during colder seasons due to the clash between warm indoor air and cold window glass.

The moisture buildup is a consequence of daily activities like cooking, showering, and even breathing, which is why it commonly appears on bedroom windows in the morning. Poor ventilation in a stuffy house with high humidity levels can exacerbate the problem.

To combat condensation, addressing issues like poor ventilation, insulation, and high humidity levels in your home is essential. One simple preventive measure is to open windows to allow fresh air in. Bathroom expert George Holland from Victorian Plumbing suggests that opening bathroom windows can help prevent fogging by allowing steam to escape, although this may not be ideal in colder weather.

An effective hack to deter fog is using a mixture of vinegar and water applied to windows or mirrors with a cloth. This inexpensive solution can last up to a week, although it may leave a temporary smell. Adding lemon or lime to the mixture can provide a pleasant aroma.

Another method gaining popularity, especially on social media platforms like TikTok, involves using dishwashing liquid to create a barrier on windows to prevent condensation. Anita Birges, a well-known hack enthusiast, recommends applying a small amount of dishwashing liquid to a microfiber cloth and rubbing it vigorously on the window and frame to create a protective barrier.

In addition to these methods, here are some other tips to prevent condensation on your windows every morning:
