Two individuals lost their lives in a tragic incident when a small aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff, causing it to flip and catch fire in front of horrified witnesses. The fatal accident took place at Paramillo Aerodrome near the Venezuelan city of San Cristobal, where the light aircraft veered out of control, flipped nearly upside down, and crashed onto the runway.

The deceased victims were identified as pilot Jose Antonio Bortone Terife, aged 50, and co-pilot Juan Maldonado, aged 47. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the crash, with initial theories suggesting a potential tire explosion or the involvement of pilot error.

The aircraft, a Piper Cheyenne 1 with reported ties to the Venezuelan government, was completely destroyed by the ensuing flames. The National Institute of Civil Aviation of Venezuela confirmed the crash, stating that the incident occurred during takeoff from Paramillo Airport and resulted in the tragic loss of both crew members aboard the aircraft.

Jose Antonio Bortone, one of the pilots involved in the crash, was a seasoned aviator with 30 years of experience and a strong family history in aviation. His employer, EC Charter, praised his dedication and professionalism, highlighting his passion for flying and the deep impact he had on those who knew him. The company expressed heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones, honoring his memory as a remarkable pilot.

In a separate tribute, Juan Maldonado was remembered as a dedicated professional who imparted knowledge and passion for his work.
