Ben Stokes recently suffered a severe black eye, violating a key rule of cricket coaching. The England cricket player shared a photo of his facial injuries on Instagram, showing a badly bruised eye, scratches, and a bandaged nose. Despite the mishap, Stokes maintained humor by joking about the condition of the cricket ball.
The incident occurred while Stokes was coaching young players in Durham, and a ball struck him in the face. He was promptly taken to the hospital, where he reached out to the player who hit the ball, acknowledging his mistake of turning his back on the batter.
Stokes, who is also recovering from a groin injury, is expected to return to action for Durham before England’s upcoming Test against Australia. He plans to play several county championship matches in preparation for the game.
Once his playing career ends, Stokes aims to move into coaching, with a contract with England until the 2027 Ashes series. With 120 Test appearances for England, Stokes has proven himself as a stalwart in the sport.
