Beauty Bay, an online cosmetics retailer, is facing potential collapse as it has submitted a notice of intention to appoint administrators. This action signifies the company’s preparation to enter administration and triggers a temporary legal freeze preventing creditors from pursuing legal actions for a period of ten days.
According to reports by Sky News, Beauty Bay filed the notice earlier this week and has since taken its website offline, displaying a message stating, “We’ll Be Back Soon. BEAUTY BAY is offline right now, we’ll be back shortly.” Established in 1999 by brothers Arron and David Gabbie in Manchester, Beauty Bay offers a wide range of products, including popular brands like Ariana Grande, Clinique, MAC, and its own line of items.
Recent developments indicate that Beauty Bay was exploring various options to secure new funding, potentially through a complete sale of the business. Interpath, an advisory firm, has been collaborating with Beauty Bay to conduct a review of its operations. The company, which employs 65 individuals, has been contacted for comment by the Mirror.
In related news, fashion retailer Quiz has also entered administration, leading to the loss of 109 jobs. Redundancies are affecting staff at the company’s head office in Glasgow and warehouse in Lanarkshire. Quiz’s website has been deactivated, and customers with pending online orders are being informed of cancellations. The retailer is advising customers to seek refunds through their banks or credit card providers, suggesting options such as Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act for credit card purchases exceeding £100 and Chargeback for debit card transactions or credit card purchases under £100 within the last 120 days.
While Quiz stores remain operational, they are no longer accepting gift cards. The company announced clearance sales across its branches and highlighted that Quiz concessions within New Look and Matalan stores are not affected by the administration proceedings.
