Three security personnel at a nightclub in downtown Winnipeg have been accused of assault following an incident involving a Winnipeg Sea Bears player earlier this month, as per police reports. Teddy Allen was hospitalized due to an attack at the nightclub on August 3, according to the Canadian Elite Basketball League team. The individuals, aged 35, 37, and 58, who were employed at the venue, were apprehended on Wednesday and charged with assault causing bodily harm. They have since been released on undertakings, law enforcement stated in a press release on Thursday. Although the specific nightclub was not disclosed, authorities mentioned its location as being on Main Street, situated between Portage and William avenues.
In a team-released statement on Thursday, Allen confirmed that he has undergone medical evaluations, received a diagnosis, and is currently recuperating at home. Expressing his dismay, Allen stated that such an assault should never occur to anyone for any reason. He further added, “The thing about my life is that when I’ve been knocked down, I get back up, which is exactly what I’m going to do now.”
