Toronto Blue Jays’ star player, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., has been cleared to play after coming off the seven-day injured list. He is set to join the team for their game against the New York Yankees on Saturday.
Guerrero sustained an injury during a game against the Yankees last week when he collided with George Lombard Jr., a rookie shortstop for New York, in a peculiar play at third base during the sixth inning. Despite the collision, Guerrero managed to score a run before leaving the game.
After successfully completing his concussion tests, Guerrero returned to the team on Friday. He also participated in a minor league rehabilitation game for single-A Dunedin, where he doubled and took swings in the batting cage.
In the lineup for Saturday’s game, Guerrero was placed second after the Blue Jays suffered a 3-1 defeat to the Yankees in the series opener on Friday. To make room for Guerrero’s return, the team sent infielder/outfielder Davis Schneider down to triple-A Buffalo.
Guerrero currently boasts a batting average of .263 with seven home runs and 46 RBIs. Prior to his injury, he had a strong performance, hitting .310 in his last seven games.
