Corentin Moutet expresses anger following Danielle Collins’ public disclosure of his alleged unsuccessful attempts at flirtation. Collins, currently serving as a pundit at the Miami Open due to an injury, diverted her focus to a different topic recently.
At 32 years old, the American, sidelined from playing, has been actively involved as a commentator at the Miami event. While providing insights for the Tennis Channel, Collins brought attention to a particular incident involving French player Moutet.
Ranked No. 33 globally, Moutet secured a victory against Tomas Machac on Saturday, but it was the pre-match interactions that caught Collins’ notice. During a segment on the Tennis Channel, Collins recounted the situation where Moutet engaged in what she perceived as flirtatious behavior towards her.
In response to presenter Steve Weissman’s prompt about the incident, Collins shared, “I jokingly told him that if he wanted to flirt, he needed to improve his serve. Some attribute flirtation success to height or personality, but in reality, it’s about powerful shots on the court.”
When questioned about her criteria for being flirted with, Collins humorously mentioned her height, stating, “In this context, yes. Standing at 5’10”, it’s just a personal preference. It’s nothing against shorter individuals. However, he seemed displeased and unfollowed me after a viral post where I mentioned my preference for taller individuals.”
Collins further revealed that Moutet later reinitiated contact, highlighting his recent match performance and powerful serves, to which she responded with skepticism about his chances. Despite being 5’11” himself, Moutet should have been preparing to face world No.1 Jannik Sinner but took the time to address Collins’ account of the incident.
In a social media post, Moutet clarified that he never followed Collins and criticized the Tennis Channel for allowing misinformation to be broadcast. He insinuated that Collins sought attention through fabricated stories and advised her to prioritize self-acceptance over seeking validation.
