Authorities have issued an urgent plea following an incident where a car drove onto the sidewalk, striking a woman walking with a stroller. The event occurred around 4:30 pm today on the R617 road between Blarney and Tower in Ireland. The woman, in her 30s, and the infant were swiftly taken to a hospital in Cork. The woman’s injuries are reported as non-life-threatening, while the baby emerged unharmed, described by a local firefighter as a remarkable outcome.

Individuals who witnessed the accident or may possess dashcam footage from the area at the time have been encouraged to contact emergency services for assistance.

A Garda spokesperson stated, “Gardaí and emergency services responded to a report of a car accident involving two pedestrians, a woman in her 30s, and an infant boy, at Blarney, Co. Cork, this afternoon, Tuesday 21st October 2025, around 4:30 pm. Both pedestrians were taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening. No further injuries were reported, and the scene was secured for investigation. The road has since been reopened. Gardaí are seeking witnesses, including those with dashcam or video recordings from the area.”

Local councilor Damian Boylan expressed his sympathy for the victim and commended the efforts of Gardaí and emergency services during the incident. He remarked, “This was an extremely unfortunate occurrence; fortunately, there were no fatalities, but it must have been a terrifying ordeal. My thoughts are with the woman and her family. I trust that Gardaí are diligently investigating the circumstances of the incident.”
