A woman who lost her nose in a dog attack is on the path to recovery after undergoing extensive reconstructive surgery using tissue from her forehead. Jordan Wilson, 29, was viciously attacked by a friend’s Boerboel dog over three years ago, resulting in the complete loss of her nose. Since then, she has endured a series of 16 surgeries to reconstruct her facial features, with her forehead skin being utilized to craft a new nose, allowing her to regain sensation in that area.

Reflecting on the life-altering incident, Jordan shared her struggles with self-image and public perception following the attack. Despite the emotional challenges, she is gradually reclaiming her sense of identity and receiving positive feedback from loved ones about her physical appearance. Jordan emphasized the shift in her perspective towards beauty and the importance of inner qualities over external appearance.

The dog attack occurred while Jordan was visiting her brother-in-law and his partner, where the normally friendly Boerboel suddenly turned violent towards her. Although the police classified the dog as dangerous, the owner was not required to euthanize it but was issued warnings and fined for the incident.

Regarding the dog’s behavior, Jordan expressed mixed feelings about its continued existence, noting that the attack, while severe, was not sustained aggression but a sudden, impactful lunge at her nose. She acknowledged the potential playful intention due to the dog’s size, despite the grave injuries she sustained during the incident.

Following emergency treatment, Jordan underwent a series of surgeries to restore her nose, involving skin grafts and flap procedures to reconstruct her facial features. Despite ongoing discomfort and further surgeries ahead to refine her nose shape, she remains optimistic about her recovery and focuses on sharing her journey to raise awareness and support others facing similar challenges.

Despite her traumatic experience, Jordan maintains her love for animals while exercising caution, especially around her children. She advocates for vigilance and empathy towards those who have endured similar ordeals, emphasizing the importance of finding strength and positivity in adversity.
