An abusive mother neglected and withheld food from her daughter until the young girl deteriorated to an extremely thin and skeletal state, ultimately leading to her death.

The body of Kyneddi Miller was discovered by police during a welfare check at the family’s residence in Morrisvale, West Virginia. The 14-year-old had been severely neglected by her mother, Julie A Miller, resulting in her death due to extreme malnutrition and neglect.

Julie A Miller had withdrawn Kyneddi from school during the pandemic, claiming concerns about the virus spreading to her elderly parents. Despite stating she would homeschool her daughter, Miller subjected Kyneddi to harsh mistreatment instead.

In court, Julie A Miller pleaded guilty to causing the death of a child under her care. She is expected to receive a prison sentence of up to 15 years and will be added to the Child Abuse and Neglect Registry.

The Boone County Circuit Court in Morrisvale heard that Julie initially denied any wrongdoing but later changed her plea. Additionally, Julie’s parents, Donna Stone and Jerry Stone, were also charged in connection with Kyneddi’s death, with Donna’s trial set to commence in February 2026.

Investigations revealed that Kyneddi had minimal contact with the outside world during the time she was supposed to be homeschooled and had not received medical attention for an extended period. Despite claims of an eating disorder, it was evident that Kyneddi was denied essential care, leading to her tragic demise.

Prosecutor Dan Holstein emphasized that Julie A Miller knowingly neglected her daughter’s critical needs. The sentencing for this heartbreaking case is scheduled for February 25, 2026, in Morrisvale, West Virginia.
